Bowland Charitable Trust

A trust is made for a lawful purpose. The owner of the property who initiates the trust is called the author of the Trust and those who accept such a trust or confidence are the trustees. Those for whose interest the trust has been created are known as the beneficiaries. Bowland Charitable Trust is one such endeavor.

The Bowland Charitable Trust was founded to promote the activities of young people that would help in the formation of their characters. The first priorities are for those who are inclined towards education or leisure. The size of the grant is flexible and depends on the circumstances and the applicants. The trust uses its discretionary powers to grant the funds. The Trust has its operations in UK and abroad, and can be contacted online or by snail mail, or telephone.

The Bowland Charitable Trust has given 5 million pounds without any restraints to Lancaster University. In the history of universities, so far there has been no such precedent of this kind. This donation from Bowland Charitable Trust will be used for the development of research and teaching. A broad section of the North West England community is supposed to benefit from it. The Vice Chancellor of Lancaster University, Paul Wellings, was full of praise for the university being the receipt of the munificent bequest. The gift could not have come at a better time. Lancaster University was just gearing itself for the next research operation and readying to foray into various projects in the departments of modern art, medicine and health. The Vice Chancellor was confident that no time would be wasted in taking off with the ventures.

The Bowland Charitable Trust was founded with the prime objective of benefiting education. Its major contribution gave a drive to the establishment of Ruskin Library in Lancaster University. The Library is said to be without a second of its type in Britain. The library has one of the world's prime collections of manuscripts, art, diaries and books connected with John Ruskin - an art critic and social commentator of the Victorian era.

A representative of Bowland Charitable Trust opined that the trust was very happy to stand beside Lancaster University and kick off many new research projects into the virgin areas as well as explored venues. Bowland charitable Trust would release the fund amounting to 1 million pounds per year, over a time span of 5 years.
