Andrews Charitable Trust

The founder of Andrews Charitable Trust is Cecil Jackson Cole who started business in 1946. Cole firmly believed that for the business to be successful, it must tie up with charity. He utilized the profits of Andrews to work for the disadvantaged. He died in 1979 leaving behind his inspirational work.

The ownership of Andrews is vested in three registered charitable trusts - Andrews Charitable Trust, Christian Book Promotion Trust and Christian Initiative Trust. The Andrews Charitable Trust is guided by the motto of the Andrews group. The 'Spirit of Andrews' is without a parallel in the business world. It is not just about buying, selling and renting out property, about bricks, mortars and nuts and bolts but about the manner in which the Andrews group conducts business. The 500 odd employees of Andrews feel proud to work for one of the premier independent property dealers in UK. The mantra of Andrews is Service, Integrity and Performance.

Andrews Charitable Trust grows and with it allows new charities to grow in a changing world to meet the needs of humanity in Britain and the rest of the world. The basis is Christian faith and values while interacting with those with or without faith. Andrews Charitable Trust operates with only two or three partners in a year. Grants are awarded to key organizations. Andrews Charitable Trust gives importance to mental health and has accordingly set up an organization that works in five countries - India, Sri Lanka, Ghana, Tanzania and Uganda for this specific purpose.

One of the first steps Cole had taken was to give Oxfam a big push to enable it to become a name to reckon with at the times of crisis. Computers are collected from business houses in UK, renovated and then shipped to African countries. Tying up with local partners, Andrews Charitable Trust sees to it that the sets reach the proper address.

Andrews Charitable Trust concentrates on new ideas to alleviate poverty and support those setting up new ventures. If any such unit is achieving success then its experience and tools are replicated for another region. Those organizations working in tandem with Andrews Charitable Trust are allowed the maximum amount of independence within a span of three years to increase their efficiency and viability.

In February 1965, the Phyllis Trust was set up. In 2004 it was renamed Andrews Charitable Trust and became the major shareholder of Andrews & Partners.
